Ottawa Fury FC will enter the USL Championship playoffs as the No. 8 seed, following a 3-1 loss in Charlotte Saturday night.

The Independence got a late winner from Enzo Martinez to keep all three points at home in the regular-season finale.

The hosts jumped out to an early lead when forward Niki Jackson produced a nifty bit of footwork to dance around the byline before finding midfielder Dominic Oduro near the centre of the six-yard box, and though Oduro’s shot took a deflection, it had enough to sneak past Fury FC goalkeeper Callum Irving.

Fury FC tied the game on a goal by midfielder Hadji Barry, his sixth of the season.
