The Beaumont Library and the Beaumont Society for the Arts (BSA) will be presenting the Awesome A Capella and more concert on Oct. 26 at the Library at 7:30 p.m.

A cappella group 6 Minute Warning and musical trio the Chickadeez will be performing. Composed of six members with extensive musical backgrounds in rock, pop, jazz, classical and choral singing, 6 Minute Warning is sure to delight a cappella fans and convert others to the love of a cappella voices.

“The BSA hasn’t had anything to do with an a cappella event before, so this is exciting,” said Laura Talbert with the BSA. “A cappella as a genre has kind of increased in popularity more recently.”

In past years the Beaumont Library has hosted a number of musical guests, including the Melisizwe Brothers and the Edmonton Metro Chorus.

“We just try and change it up a bit and see what’s new,” said Andrea Ciochetti, program coordinator at the Beaumont Library. “And who doesn’t love a cappella?”

As well as the a cappella of 6 Minute Warning, the show will feature the vocals of Edmonton group the Chickadeez.

Started in 2013, the Chickadeez trio all lead busy lives working in health services and raising families and perform classic tunes on the side for their audiences. This will be their first time performing in Beaumont.

“We kind of specialize in the oldies, vintage tunes, the old female trio groups. For this concert … we’re switching it up and doing some more modern tunes,” said Marie Hill, one of the members of the Chickadeez.

“We knew each other from past choirs … and we just wanted to have something we could do on our busy schedules.”

Tickets for the Awesome A Cappella show are available at the Beaumont Library. Information on the show can be found through Facebook.
